Paul Miner, VP Engineering

Paul brings over twelve years of infrastructure design and technical management experience using Cisco Systems products and services.  Paul is a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP).  He leverages his extensive knowledge of national data centers, disaster recovery planning, and wireless technologies to engineer robust, secure data solutions.  Paul has a successful track record of establishing long term network strategies in a variety of environments including Tier I Internet service providers, large enterprise, and healthcare networks.  Since joining DTS Communications as Vice President-Engineering, Paul’s primary focus has been the development of innovative solutions to improve network security, performance and availability for DTS customers.

With several years experience in technical consulting and healthcare IT outsourcing, Paul has designed and implemented numerous fault-tolerant networks for hospital environments.  He has a strong understanding of healthcare-specific networking requirements necessary to support the demands of modern medical services.  Paul has deployed systems such as wireless networks to support mobile applications, giving clinicians real time access to patient information and highly redundant infrastructures capable of meeting the resource demands of Picture Archive and Communication Systems (PACS) and Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.

One such network was put to the test for a Gulf Coast healthcare facility.  The facility’s data center serves local as well as national clients and was directly in the path of Hurricane Katrina in 2005.  Despite the area’s complete loss of local public utilities, the data infrastructure maintained 100% uptime during the disaster.  This enabled the facility’s workforce to focus on providing much needed healthcare services to those affected by the storm without the serious impediment brought on by losing access to important patient health information and supporting applications.
