Partnering with Local Service Provider ECG to Deploy

Free Wi-Fi to Downtown Bartlesville, OK

Bartlesville, OK . . . September 8, 2006— DTS Communications Inc. is proud to announce the completion of it’s year-long effort to bring free wireless Internet to downtown Bartlesville. The project, done in partnership with Enhanced Communications Group, represents the first time a municipality in this region has provided free wireless on such a large scale.  The new service provides residents and businesses with free Wi-Fi internet access over a 36 square block area of downtown.  The effort is part of the Bartlesville Development Corporation’s vision of revitalizing the downtown area.

DTS is a regional leader in large scale Wi-Fi design, installation and servicing. As a preferred Cisco Systems partner, DTS specializes in municipal wireless networks in order to provide secure, scalable communications to mobile workforces. These wireless networks harness the latest technology to provide citywide coverage, Wi-Fi hot spots and reliable business infrastructures.

The new Cisco Systems wireless mesh network provides high speed internet connections via state-of-the-art technology that eliminates the need for wired network connections. The Bartlesville network, custom designed by DTS, has been created with the installation of 12 Cisco Aironet 1500 Outdoor Lightweight access points throughout the common areas of downtown.  “This engagement epitomizes the teamwork of a manufacturer, such as Cisco Systems, an ATP Wireless Partner, such as DTS Communications, and a Service Provider, such as Enhanced Communications Group, to deliver a manageable, high bandwidth, and low latency solution that meets the needs of cities such as Bartlesville,” said Chris Calvert, Cisco Systems Mobility Channel Account Manager.

Enhanced Communications Group, Bartlesville’s only local provider of voice, data, and internet service spearheaded the project and operates the network.  “We want to give our business community and professionals the best possible tools and promote Bartlesville as an innovative, business-friendly city," explains Bo Summers, CEO of ECG.  "We also want our residents to experience the freedom that a wireless network provides."

Any downtown patron with an 802.11 WiFi card will be able to connect to ECG’s new network simply by selecting ECGFREE in their available wireless connections. Compatible devices include laptops, PDA’s, cell phones, and other enabled devices.
